Genesis 31:6-8 (ESV)

Sometimes when we are living in obedience to God bad things happen to us and we wonder why God doesn't protect us. Jacob's experiences help us to see how God works. "You know that I have served your father with all my strength, yet your father has cheated me and changed my wages ten times. But God did not permit him to harm me. If he said, 'The spotted shall be your wages,' then all the flock bore spotted; and if he said, 'The striped shall be your wages,' then all the flock bore striped" Genesis 31:6-8 (ESV). Sometimes God does not stop people from trying to hurt his children, but he blesses them in spite of what people try to do to them. God does it this way to show us that he is greater than all our enemies. Lord, remind me not to worry when things go wrong, but to have confidence that you will bring victory to me if I am faithful to serve you.
