Exodus 10:1-3(ESV)

God had brought seven plagues on Egypt, but still Pharaoh would not do what God asked of him. "Then the LORD said to Moses, 'Go in to Pharaoh, for I have hardened his heart and the heart of his servants, that I may show these signs of mine among them, and that you may tell in the hearing of your son and your grandson how I have dealt harshly with the Egyptians and what signs I have done among them, that you may know that I am the LORD.' So Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh and said to him, 'Thus says the LORD, the God of the Hebrews', 'How long will you refuse to humble yourself before me? Let my people go that they may serve me'" Exodus 10:1-3 (ESV). God wanted to get his people out of Egypt, but the greater issue was that he wanted the Israelites and Egyptians to be convinced that he alone was the ruler of the universe and to have them all submit to his authority. Most of our problems are the direct result of our refusal to think and live as God tells us we must think and live, but still most people refuse to obey God. Lord, I struggle submitting my time to your control.
