Exodus 12:27-8 (ESV)

Moses told the people of Israel that the LORD was going to pass through Egypt and destroy all of the first-born of people and animals. If they would kill a lamb and put the blood on doorposts and lintels of their houses their homes would not be struck. "And all the people bowed their heads and worshiped. Then the people of Israel went and did so; as the LORD had commanded Moses and Aaron, so they did” Exodus 12:27-8 (ESV). It is amazing that everyone did this. They bowed their heads and worshiped God, which means they acknowledged his authority over them. Lord, it is not that I don't always know what to do. Sometimes I put it off and never get it done, and sometimes it just doesn't seem that urgent. Today, help me worship you by obeying you as if my life depended on obedience, which it does.

Acts 8: 15-17 (God's Word) Originally published 12/27/2013 The apostles realized the Holy Spirit was essential for the Samaritans to live in obedience to Christ. "Peter and John went to Samaria and prayed that the Samaritans would receive the Holy Spirit. (Before this the Holy Spirit had not come to any of the Samaritans. They had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and the Samaritans received the Holy Spirit" Acts 8:15-7 (God's Word). Lord, I ask that your Holy Spirit guide me in all that I think and do.

Mark 14: 57-61 (God's Word) Originally published 10/26/2013 "Then some men stood up and gave false testimony against him, but their statements did not agree. We heard him say, 'I'll tear down this temple made by humans, and in three days I'll build another temple, one not made by human hands.' But their testimony did not agree even on this point. So the chief priest stood up in the center and asked Jesus, 'Don't you have any answer to what these men testify against you?' But he was silent" Mark 14:57-61 (God's Word). I can't imagine the pain of being scourged or nailed to a cross, but I do know what it is like to have people say things about you that hurt.
