God's plan for passing on our faith … "And when in time to come your son asks you, 'What does this mean?' you shall say to him, 'By a strong hand the LORD brought us out of Egypt, from the house of slavery. For when Pharaoh stubbornly refused to let us go, the LORD killed all the first born in the land of Egypt, both the firstborn of man and the firstborn of animals. Therefore I sacrifice to the Lord all the males that first open the wombs, but all the firstborn of my sons I redeem'" Exodus 13:14-15 (ESV). As our children see us as parents and grandparents read the Bible, worship, pray, turn the other cheek, give money to God, return good for evil, we are to explain why we do these things so they see why we submit our lives to God. It is not the task of the church or government to pass our faith on to our children. Lord, as a father and grandfather guide me to live a life of submission to you and alert me to every opportunity to explain why I live as I do to my family.
