Exodus 32:4 (ESV)

God had delivered Israel from slavery with powerful miracles, parted the Red Sea, made poison water drinkable, made water come from a rock, and bread appear every morning to eat. Now Aaron makes them an idol out of gold: "And they said. 'These are the gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt!'" Exodus 32:4 (ESV). How could they think that these metal objects could have done all these miraculous things? Lord, Do I fail to recognize all that you do in my life? Do I take credit for what you do? Do I take for granted your guidance, provision, and your protection without recognizing that you are keeping your promises to me? I know that I owe everything to you, so remind me that everything I am and have is a gift from you.

Acts 8: 15-17 (God's Word) Originally published 12/27/2013 The apostles realized the Holy Spirit was essential for the Samaritans to live in obedience to Christ. "Peter and John went to Samaria and prayed that the Samaritans would receive the Holy Spirit. (Before this the Holy Spirit had not come to any of the Samaritans. They had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and the Samaritans received the Holy Spirit" Acts 8:15-7 (God's Word). Lord, I ask that your Holy Spirit guide me in all that I think and do.

Mark 14: 57-61 (God's Word) Originally published 10/26/2013 "Then some men stood up and gave false testimony against him, but their statements did not agree. We heard him say, 'I'll tear down this temple made by humans, and in three days I'll build another temple, one not made by human hands.' But their testimony did not agree even on this point. So the chief priest stood up in the center and asked Jesus, 'Don't you have any answer to what these men testify against you?' But he was silent" Mark 14:57-61 (God's Word). I can't imagine the pain of being scourged or nailed to a cross, but I do know what it is like to have people say things about you that hurt.
