Numbers 22:12-14 (ESV)

The people of Midian saw how God had given Israel the victory over the Ammonites, and they were afraid they would be defeated next. They sent people to get Balaam to put a curse on Israel. "God said to Balaam, 'You shall not go with them. You shall not curse the people because they are blessed.' So Balaam rose in the morning and said to the princes of Balak, 'Go to your own land, for the LORD has refused to let me go with you.' So he princes of Moab rose and went to Balak and said, ''Balaam refuses to come with us'" Numbers 22:12-14 (ESV). The people of Israel were in danger and did not even know about it, but God took care of them without their even knowing about it. Lord, it is a great comfort to know that you take care of me even when I don't know that I am in danger. I praise you that you allow me to live without fear of the future.

Acts 8: 15-17 (God's Word) Originally published 12/27/2013 The apostles realized the Holy Spirit was essential for the Samaritans to live in obedience to Christ. "Peter and John went to Samaria and prayed that the Samaritans would receive the Holy Spirit. (Before this the Holy Spirit had not come to any of the Samaritans. They had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and the Samaritans received the Holy Spirit" Acts 8:15-7 (God's Word). Lord, I ask that your Holy Spirit guide me in all that I think and do.

Mark 14: 57-61 (God's Word) Originally published 10/26/2013 "Then some men stood up and gave false testimony against him, but their statements did not agree. We heard him say, 'I'll tear down this temple made by humans, and in three days I'll build another temple, one not made by human hands.' But their testimony did not agree even on this point. So the chief priest stood up in the center and asked Jesus, 'Don't you have any answer to what these men testify against you?' But he was silent" Mark 14:57-61 (God's Word). I can't imagine the pain of being scourged or nailed to a cross, but I do know what it is like to have people say things about you that hurt.
