Jeremiah 37:17 (God's Word)

Following Christ means that sometimes you have to do things that are hard and even dangerous. Jeremiah was in prison because he told the King exactly what God had told him. God was going to give the victory in their war with Israel to the Babylonians. "Then King Zedekiah sent for Jeremiah, and the king asked him privately in the palace, 'Is there any message from the LORD?' Jeremiah answered, 'Yes!! There is a message from the LORD. You will be handed over to the king of Babylon" Jeremiah 37:17 (God's Word). Lord, I want to have so much trust in you that I would do whatever I know you want me to do or say, regardless of the possible consequences.

"Peter and John went to Samaria and prayed that the Samaritans would receive the Holy Spirit. (Before this the Holy Spirit had not come to any of the Samaritans. They had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and the Samaritans received the Holy Spirit" Acts 8:15-7 (God's Word). Mark 14: 57-61 (God's Word) Originally published 10/26/2013 "Then some men stood up and gave false testimony against him, but their statements did not agree. We heard him say, 'I'll tear down this temple made by humans, and in three days I'll build another temple, one not made by human hands.' But their testimony did not agree even on this point. So the chief priest stood up in the center and asked Jesus, 'Don't you have any answer to what these men testify against you?' But he was silent" Mark 14:57-61 (God's Word). I can't imagine the pain of being scourged or nailed to a cross, but I do know what it is like to have people say things about you that hurt.
