Hosea 2:19-20 (God's Word)

God described his people (Israel or his church) as being like a wife who pledged loyalty and love for him, but then became a prostitute, loving many others instead of him. God made it clear that there were consequences for what they had done, but he showed his great love for his people, even though they had been unfaithful. "Israel, I will make you my wife forever. I will be honest and faithful to you. I will show you my love and compassion. I will be true to you, my wife. Then you will know the LORD" Hosea 2:19-20 (God's Word). Lord, teach me to love others as you love me.

Acts 8: 15-17 (God's Word) Originally published 12/27/2013 The apostles realized the Holy Spirit was essential for the Samaritans to live in obedience to Christ. "Peter and John went to Samaria and prayed that the Samaritans would receive the Holy Spirit. (Before this the Holy Spirit had not come to any of the Samaritans. They had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and the Samaritans received the Holy Spirit" Acts 8:15-7 (God's Word). Lord, I ask that your Holy Spirit guide me in all that I think and do.

Mark 14: 57-61 (God's Word) Originally published 10/26/2013 "Then some men stood up and gave false testimony against him, but their statements did not agree. We heard him say, 'I'll tear down this temple made by humans, and in three days I'll build another temple, one not made by human hands.' But their testimony did not agree even on this point. So the chief priest stood up in the center and asked Jesus, 'Don't you have any answer to what these men testify against you?' But he was silent" Mark 14:57-61 (God's Word). I can't imagine the pain of being scourged or nailed to a cross, but I do know what it is like to have people say things about you that hurt.
