Zephaniah 1:6 (God's Word)

God is very clear about the basis on which he judges people. "I will remove those who have turned away from following the LORD and those who no longer seek the LORD or ask him for help" Zephaniah 1:6 (God's Word). God is the owner and ruler of this world, and everyone who refuses to acknowledge this and refuses to ask for his direction when making decisions is rejecting this reality. They are in rebellion against God and trying to take his place. He must remove them since there cannot be two rulers of the world. Lord, I realize that I will fulfill my purpose on earth only if you rule my life and guide my decisions. Show me how to live and direct my life.

Acts 8: 15-17 (God's Word) Originally published 12/27/2013 The apostles realized the Holy Spirit was essential for the Samaritans to live in obedience to Christ. "Peter and John went to Samaria and prayed that the Samaritans would receive the Holy Spirit. (Before this the Holy Spirit had not come to any of the Samaritans. They had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and the Samaritans received the Holy Spirit" Acts 8:15-7 (God's Word). Lord, I ask that your Holy Spirit guide me in all that I think and do.

Mark 14: 57-61 (God's Word) Originally published 10/26/2013 "Then some men stood up and gave false testimony against him, but their statements did not agree. We heard him say, 'I'll tear down this temple made by humans, and in three days I'll build another temple, one not made by human hands.' But their testimony did not agree even on this point. So the chief priest stood up in the center and asked Jesus, 'Don't you have any answer to what these men testify against you?' But he was silent" Mark 14:57-61 (God's Word). I can't imagine the pain of being scourged or nailed to a cross, but I do know what it is like to have people say things about you that hurt.
