Matthew 8:34 (God's Word)

Jesus met two fellows whose lives were controlled by the Devil. This possession had destroyed their lives, and everyone was afraid of them. Jesus ordered the demons out of them and into some pigs. The pigs ran down a hill and plunged into the water and drowned. The news spread: "Everyone from the city went to meet Jesus. When they saw him, they begged him to leave their territory" Matthew 8:34 (God's Word). Jesus is dangerous. He regularly demands things of us that require us to quit some things we like and do some things that we do not want to do. I started thinking of things I would not want God to change about my life. Lord, give me such trust in you that whatever you ask I would gladly do, whatever the cost to me.

"Peter and John went to Samaria and prayed that the Samaritans would receive the Holy Spirit. (Before this the Holy Spirit had not come to any of the Samaritans. They had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and the Samaritans received the Holy Spirit" Acts 8:15-7 (God's Word). Lord, I ask that your Holy Spirit guide me in all that I think and do.

Mark 14: 57-61 (God's Word) Originally published 10/26/2013 "Then some men stood up and gave false testimony against him, but their statements did not agree. We heard him say, 'I'll tear down this temple made by humans, and in three days I'll build another temple, one not made by human hands.' But their testimony did not agree even on this point. So the chief priest stood up in the center and asked Jesus, 'Don't you have any answer to what these men testify against you?' But he was silent" Mark 14:57-61 (God's Word). I can't imagine the pain of being scourged or nailed to a cross, but I do know what it is like to have people say things about you that hurt.
