Matthew 26:74-75 (God's Word)

 Jesus predicted that Peter would deny that he knew Jesus three times before the night was over, but Peter was sure he would never do such a thing. But two times he denied knowing Jesus. "Then Peter began to curse and swear with an oath, 'I don't know the man!' Just as the rooster crowed, Peter remembered what Jesus had said: 'Before a rooster crows, you will say three times that you don't know me.' Then Peter went outside and cried bitterly" Matthew 26:74-75 (God's Word). Lord, I know what it is like to fail you, and I wish I could promise never to do it again, but I can't. I never plan to do it, but in my weakness I do. Help me to be more faithful every day of my life.

Acts 8: 15-17 (God's Word) Originally published 12/27/2013 The apostles realized the Holy Spirit was essential for the Samaritans to live in obedience to Christ. "Peter and John went to Samaria and prayed that the Samaritans would receive the Holy Spirit. (Before this the Holy Spirit had not come to any of the Samaritans. They had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and the Samaritans received the Holy Spirit" Acts 8:15-7 (God's Word). Lord, I ask that your Holy Spirit guide me in all that I think and do.

Mark 14: 57-61 (God's Word) Originally published 10/26/2013 "Then some men stood up and gave false testimony against him, but their statements did not agree. We heard him say, 'I'll tear down this temple made by humans, and in three days I'll build another temple, one not made by human hands.' But their testimony did not agree even on this point. So the chief priest stood up in the center and asked Jesus, 'Don't you have any answer to what these men testify against you?' But he was silent" Mark 14:57-61 (God's Word). I can't imagine the pain of being scourged or nailed to a cross, but I do know what it is like to have people say things about you that hurt.
