John 8:28-29 (God's Word)

The Jews were trying to get Pilate to kill Jesus. "The Jews wouldn't go into the palace. They didn't want to become unclean, since they wanted to eat the Passover. So Pilate came out to them and asked, 'What accusation are you making against this man?’” John 18:28-9 (God's Word). The Jews believed that going into the house of an unbeliever would make them unacceptable to God but killing his son would make them acceptable to God. Lord, we are so easily deceived by our own values - doing what we think is good, when you are offended by what we do.  Help me to see good and evil as You do.

Acts 8: 15-17 (God's Word) Originally published 12/27/2013 The apostles realized the Holy Spirit was essential for the Samaritans to live in obedience to Christ. "Peter and John went to Samaria and prayed that the Samaritans would receive the Holy Spirit. (Before this the Holy Spirit had not come to any of the Samaritans. They had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and the Samaritans received the Holy Spirit" Acts 8:15-7 (God's Word). Lord, I ask that your Holy Spirit guide me in all that I think and do.

Mark 14: 57-61 (God's Word) Originally published 10/26/2013 "Then some men stood up and gave false testimony against him, but their statements did not agree. We heard him say, 'I'll tear down this temple made by humans, and in three days I'll build another temple, one not made by human hands.' But their testimony did not agree even on this point. So the chief priest stood up in the center and asked Jesus, 'Don't you have any answer to what these men testify against you?' But he was silent" Mark 14:57-61 (God's Word). I can't imagine the pain of being scourged or nailed to a cross, but I do know what it is like to have people say things about you that hurt.
