Romans 15:7-8 (God's Word)

One of the purposes of church is to teach us about love. God has accepted and loved each of us as we are, and he wants us to learn his kind of love. "Therefore, accept each other in the same way that Christ accepted you. He did this to bring glory to God" Romans 15:7-8 (God's Word).  People often look for a church that has people like themselves, but God wants us to learn to accept those we do not like or are not like us to demonstrate his love to those around us. When someone not like us comes to church, it is a test for us. Does God's love live in me? Lord, help me to see the flaws in others as a reminder of my own and to care for them as you have cared for me.

Acts 8: 15-17 (God's Word) Originally published 12/27/2013 The apostles realized the Holy Spirit was essential for the Samaritans to live in obedience to Christ. "Peter and John went to Samaria and prayed that the Samaritans would receive the Holy Spirit. (Before this the Holy Spirit had not come to any of the Samaritans. They had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and the Samaritans received the Holy Spirit" Acts 8:15-7 (God's Word). Lord, I ask that your Holy Spirit guide me in all that I think and do.

Mark 14: 57-61 (God's Word) Originally published 10/26/2013 "Then some men stood up and gave false testimony against him, but their statements did not agree. We heard him say, 'I'll tear down this temple made by humans, and in three days I'll build another temple, one not made by human hands.' But their testimony did not agree even on this point. So the chief priest stood up in the center and asked Jesus, 'Don't you have any answer to what these men testify against you?' But he was silent" Mark 14:57-61 (God's Word). I can't imagine the pain of being scourged or nailed to a cross, but I do know what it is like to have people say things about you that hurt.
