Genesis 14:21-23 (ESV)

It is God who provides for his followers. Abram defeated the kings in battle and all the spoils were his. "And the king of Sodom said to Abram, 'Give me the persons, but take the goods for yourself.' But Abram said to the king of Sodom, 'I have lifted my hand to the LORD, God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth, that I would not take a thread or sandal strap or anything that is yours, lest you should say, 'I have made Abram rich'" Genesis 14:21-23 (ESV). Abram wanted everyone to know that it was God who provided and not his skill or wisdom or any person. We have trouble giving, and we get afraid because we think our finances depend on ourselves, not God. Lord, everything I have is yours. Give me a spirit of gratitude and a willingness to give back to you anything you have let me use or hold for you.
