Genesis 15:1 (ESV)

God responds to our trust in him. Abram had recovered the people and goods taken from the king of Sodom and the king offered the goods to Abram, but he turned this offer down for fear that people would think that Abram’s wealth came from people, not God. "After these things the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision: 'Fear not, Abram, I am your shield: your reward will be very great" Genesis 15:1 (NIV). God's response to Abram's trust in him was to offer protection and great reward. Lord, it is a great comfort to know that when I trust you by being obedient that you stand between me and anyone or anything that would destroy me.

Acts 8: 15-17 (God's Word) Originally published 12/27/2013 The apostles realized the Holy Spirit was essential for the Samaritans to live in obedience to Christ. "Peter and John went to Samaria and prayed that the Samaritans would receive the Holy Spirit. (Before this the Holy Spirit had not come to any of the Samaritans. They had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and the Samaritans received the Holy Spirit" Acts 8:15-7 (God's Word). Lord, I ask that your Holy Spirit guide me in all that I think and do.

Mark 14: 57-61 (God's Word) Originally published 10/26/2013 "Then some men stood up and gave false testimony against him, but their statements did not agree. We heard him say, 'I'll tear down this temple made by humans, and in three days I'll build another temple, one not made by human hands.' But their testimony did not agree even on this point. So the chief priest stood up in the center and asked Jesus, 'Don't you have any answer to what these men testify against you?' But he was silent" Mark 14:57-61 (God's Word). I can't imagine the pain of being scourged or nailed to a cross, but I do know what it is like to have people say things about you that hurt.
