Genesis 22:1-2 (ESV)

God wanted to know if Abraham was really willing to do anything that God asked him to do. "After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, 'Abraham!!' And he said, 'Here am I.' He said, 'Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you'" Genesis 22:1-2 (ESV). This test was for Abraham perhaps more than for God. Have I really given my whole life to God? The only way to know is to have to make hard choices and to do things that are hard and costly to me. Lord, I think you test me every day to see if the things that are important to you are most important to me. Help me to be aware that what I think and how I spend my time is a test as to whether or not you are Lord of my life.
