Leviticus 1:3 (ESV)

The LORD gave clear instructions as to what he would accept as an offering of worship. "If the offering is a burnt offering of livestock from the herd, he shall offer a male without blemish" Leviticus 1:3 (ESV). God is telling us that worship is not for our enjoyment but a sacrifice. He told Israel if they were going to give a burnt offering to look over their herds and the one animal that they value most and would least want to give, give that one to him. Worship, by its nature, must involve sacrifice and self-denial. Lord, help me to give you whatever you ask of me today. Time is my life, so remind me that my time belongs to you: I am not to do what I enjoy. but to do first what you tell me to do.
