Leviticus 27:30-31 (ESV)

“Every tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the trees, is the LORD's; it is holy to the LORD.  If a man wishes to redeem some of his tithe, he shall add a fifth to it" Leviticus 27:30-31 (ESV). This is how God sees the material world.  It is his, and he allows humans to live in it and use it, but he wants us to remember that it is his.  The tithe is like a rent. God does not need the money or cattle, but he demands that we remember that he is the owner of everything, and the tithe is our reminder of his ownership.  The tithe is God's, and it is to be given first as a reminder to us of God's ownership.  Failure to give it is a denial of his creation, ownership, and authority. Every tenth animal born into the herd is to be given to God, but if the herdsman wants that animal, he can buy it back from God by paying 20% more than its value.  Lord, thank you for letting me live in your world and providing for my material needs. I give money to you with joy because it is all yours, and I want you to tell me how to use all that you have allowed me to have.

"Peter and John went to Samaria and prayed that the Samaritans would receive the Holy Spirit. (Before this the Holy Spirit had not come to any of the Samaritans. Mark 14: 57-61 (God's Word) Originally published 10/26/2013 "Then some men stood up and gave false testimony against him, but their statements did not agree. We heard him say, 'I'll tear down this temple made by humans, and in three days I'll build another temple, one not made by human hands.' But their testimony did not agree even on this point. So the chief priest stood up in the center and asked Jesus, 'Don't you have any answer to what these men testify against you?' But he was silent" Mark 14:57-61 (God's Word). I can't imagine the pain of being scourged or nailed to a cross, but I do know what it is like to have people say things about you that hurt.
