Numbers 6:22-26 (ESV)

"The LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 'Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, 'Thus you shall bless the people of Israel: you shall say to them, 'The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace'" Numbers 6:22-26 (ESV). This is what God wants to do for those who obey him. He wants to "keep" or guard us. He wants to treat us with favor (face shine on us). He wants to give us peace or well-being. It must be painful for God to want to provide  those things for his people, but, because of our rebellion, he cannot. Lord, help me not to seek these blessings, but to be passionate about obedience so that you might do for me all that you want to do.

Lord, I wonder how many times you have tried to help me, but I didn't take advantage of the opportunity you provided. Acts 8: 15-17 (God's Word) Originally published 12/27/2013 The apostles realized the Holy Spirit was essential for the Samaritans to live in obedience to Christ. "Peter and John went to Samaria and prayed that the Samaritans would receive the Holy Spirit. (Before this the Holy Spirit had not come to any of the Samaritans. They had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and the Samaritans received the Holy Spirit" Acts 8:15-7 (God's Word). Lord, I ask that your Holy Spirit guide me in all that I think and do.

Mark 14: 57-61 (God's Word) Originally published 10/26/2013 "Then some men stood up and gave false testimony against him, but their statements did not agree. We heard him say, 'I'll tear down this temple made by humans, and in three days I'll build another temple, one not made by human hands.' But their testimony did not agree even on this point. So the chief priest stood up in the center and asked Jesus, 'Don't you have any answer to what these men testify against you?' But he was silent" Mark 14:57-61 (God's Word). I can't imagine the pain of being scourged or nailed to a cross, but I do know what it is like to have people say things about you that hurt.
