Numbers 8:22 (ESV)

This is an example of what it means that God is the Lord or master of his followers: Aaron and his sons were told to be priests, not asked to be priests, and they obeyed. There was a lot of physical labor to keep up the tabernacle and burn the sacrifices, so God assigned this job to the males of the whole tribe of Levi. "And after that the Levites went in to do their service in the tent of meeting before Aaron and his sons; as the LORD commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so they did to them" Numbers 8:22.   When we surrender our lives to God, he has full authority to tell us what to do, and he demands obedience. He will provide all we need to do what he commands us to do. Lord, make clear what my assignments are, and when I see that I can't do them, remind me that you will provide all I need to do what you have assigned to me. If I start to worry, remind me that I am not trusting you.

Acts 8: 15-17 (God's Word) Originally published 12/27/2013 The apostles realized the Holy Spirit was essential for the Samaritans to live in obedience to Christ. "Peter and John went to Samaria and prayed that the Samaritans would receive the Holy Spirit. (Before this the Holy Spirit had not come to any of the Samaritans. They had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and the Samaritans received the Holy Spirit" Acts 8:15-7 (God's Word). Lord, I ask that your Holy Spirit guide me in all that I think and do.

Mark 14: 57-61 (God's Word) Originally published 10/26/2013 "Then some men stood up and gave false testimony against him, but their statements did not agree. We heard him say, 'I'll tear down this temple made by humans, and in three days I'll build another temple, one not made by human hands.' But their testimony did not agree even on this point. So the chief priest stood up in the center and asked Jesus, 'Don't you have any answer to what these men testify against you?' But he was silent" Mark 14:57-61 (God's Word). I can't imagine the pain of being scourged or nailed to a cross, but I do know what it is like to have people say things about you that hurt.
