Jeremiah 43:2 (God's Word)

The Babylonians had captured Jerusalem and taken many people to Babylon. Those left thought their best chance to live was to go to Egypt. They asked Jeremiah to ask God to tell them what to do. They said, ‘We will obey the LORD our God to whom we are sending you, whether it's good or bad. Yes, we will obey the LORD our God so that everything will go well with us’ Jeremiah 42:6. Jeremiah told them that God's plan was for them to stay in Judah and not go to Egypt, or they would die there. They responded: “You're lying! The LORD our God didn't send you to tell us that we must not go to live in Egypt” Jeremiah 43:2 (God's Word). Lord, give me the trust in you to do what you tell me, even if it does not seem best to me.

Acts 8: 15-17 (God's Word) Originally published 12/27/2013 The apostles realized the Holy Spirit was essential for the Samaritans to live in obedience to Christ. "Peter and John went to Samaria and prayed that the Samaritans would receive the Holy Spirit. (Before this the Holy Spirit had not come to any of the Samaritans. They had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and the Samaritans received the Holy Spirit" Acts 8:15-7 (God's Word). Lord, I ask that your Holy Spirit guide me in all that I think and do.

Mark 14: 57-61 (God's Word) Originally published 10/26/2013 "Then some men stood up and gave false testimony against him, but their statements did not agree. We heard him say, 'I'll tear down this temple made by humans, and in three days I'll build another temple, one not made by human hands.' But their testimony did not agree even on this point. So the chief priest stood up in the center and asked Jesus, 'Don't you have any answer to what these men testify against you?' But he was silent" Mark 14:57-61 (God's Word). I can't imagine the pain of being scourged or nailed to a cross, but I do know what it is like to have people say things about you that hurt.
