Nahum 3:14-15 (God's Word)

The people of Nineveh thought they were safe. They had all the food and water they needed. They had strong defenses built up behind strong walls. Who could possibly hurt them? Because of their rebellion against him, the LORD said: "Store water for the siege! Strengthen your defenses! Step into the claypits and trample the clay! Grab the brick mold! Fire will consume you there. A sword will cut you down. It will consume you like locusts" Nahum 3:14-15 (God's Word). Lord, sometimes evil seems so strong and people so resistant to you, it looks like it is winning. Forgive me for forgetting your great power, and always remind me that you will win.

Acts 8: 15-17 (God's Word) Originally published 12/27/2013 The apostles realized the Holy Spirit was essential for the Samaritans to live in obedience to Christ. "Peter and John went to Samaria and prayed that the Samaritans would receive the Holy Spirit. (Before this the Holy Spirit had not come to any of the Samaritans. They had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and the Samaritans received the Holy Spirit" Acts 8:15-7 (God's Word). Lord, I ask that your Holy Spirit guide me in all that I think and do.

Mark 14: 57-61 (God's Word) Originally published 10/26/2013 "Then some men stood up and gave false testimony against him, but their statements did not agree. We heard him say, 'I'll tear down this temple made by humans, and in three days I'll build another temple, one not made by human hands.' But their testimony did not agree even on this point. So the chief priest stood up in the center and asked Jesus, 'Don't you have any answer to what these men testify against you?' But he was silent" Mark 14:57-61 (God's Word). I can't imagine the pain of being scourged or nailed to a cross, but I do know what it is like to have people say things about you that hurt.
