Matthew 28:5-6, 20 (God's Word)

Sometimes serving God and trying to live in obedience to him is discouraging. I can't seem to overcome some patterns in my life and spiritual victories are rare. Then I read this, and I wonder why I would ever get discouraged: "The angel said to the women, 'Don't be afraid! I know you're looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He's not here. He has been brought back to life as he said. Come, see the place where he was lying.'" "And remember that I am always with you until the end of time" Matthew 28:5-6,20 (God's Word). Lord, remind me of this reality when things don't seem to turn out right and when I fail you.

Acts 8: 15-17 (God's Word) Originally published 12/27/2013 The apostles realized the Holy Spirit was essential for the Samaritans to live in obedience to Christ. "Peter and John went to Samaria and prayed that the Samaritans would receive the Holy Spirit. (Before this the Holy Spirit had not come to any of the Samaritans. They had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and the Samaritans received the Holy Spirit" Acts 8:15-7 (God's Word). Lord, I ask that your Holy Spirit guide me in all that I think and do.

Mark 14: 57-61 (God's Word) Originally published 10/26/2013 "Then some men stood up and gave false testimony against him, but their statements did not agree. We heard him say, 'I'll tear down this temple made by humans, and in three days I'll build another temple, one not made by human hands.' But their testimony did not agree even on this point. So the chief priest stood up in the center and asked Jesus, 'Don't you have any answer to what these men testify against you?' But he was silent" Mark 14:57-61 (God's Word). I can't imagine the pain of being scourged or nailed to a cross, but I do know what it is like to have people say things about you that hurt.
