1 John 4:9-13 (God's Word)

The cost of loving people: "God has shown us his love by sending his only Son into the world so that we could have life through him. This is love: not that we have loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the payment for our sins. Dear friends, if this is the way God loved us, we must also love each other. No one has ever seen God. If we love each other, God lives in us, and his love is perfected in us. We know that we live in him and he lives in us because he has given us his Spirit" I John 4:9-13 (God's Word). God's love is not talk, but self-denying sacrifice for others.  Lord, teach me now to love people as you have loved me, and show me whom you have placed me here to love today,

Lord, I wonder how many times you have tried to help me, but I didn't take advantage of the opportunity you provided. Acts 8: 15-17 (God's Word) Originally published 12/27/2013 The apostles realized the Holy Spirit was essential for the Samaritans to live in obedience to Christ. "Peter and John went to Samaria and prayed that the Samaritans would receive the Holy Spirit. (Before this the Holy Spirit had not come to any of the Samaritans. They had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and the Samaritans received the Holy Spirit" Acts 8:15-7 (God's Word). Lord, I ask that your Holy Spirit guide me in all that I think and do.

Mark 14: 57-61 (God's Word) Originally published 10/26/2013 "Then some men stood up and gave false testimony against him, but their statements did not agree. We heard him say, 'I'll tear down this temple made by humans, and in three days I'll build another temple, one not made by human hands.' But their testimony did not agree even on this point. So the chief priest stood up in the center and asked Jesus, 'Don't you have any answer to what these men testify against you?' But he was silent" Mark 14:57-61 (God's Word). I can't imagine the pain of being scourged or nailed to a cross, but I do know what it is like to have people say things about you that hurt.
