Genesis 13:14-16 (ESV)

Sometimes when we obey God, it looks like we lose. Abram and Lot had conflicts, and Abram "called on the name of the LORD" and was led to give Lot choice of the land, and he chose the best land. "The LORD said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him, 'Lift up your eyes and look from the place where you are. northward and southward and eastward and westward, for all the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring forever'" Genesis 13:14-16 (ESV). Lord, many times it seems like what you ask me to do does not seem like the best choice. Give me trust in you to do today what I know you want me to do, regardless of the apparent cost to me.

Acts 8: 15-17 (God's Word) Originally published 12/27/2013 The apostles realized the Holy Spirit was essential for the Samaritans to live in obedience to Christ. "Peter and John went to Samaria and prayed that the Samaritans would receive the Holy Spirit. (Before this the Holy Spirit had not come to any of the Samaritans. They had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and the Samaritans received the Holy Spirit" Acts 8:15-7 (God's Word). Lord, I ask that your Holy Spirit guide me in all that I think and do.

Mark 14: 57-61 (God's Word) Originally published 10/26/2013 "Then some men stood up and gave false testimony against him, but their statements did not agree. We heard him say, 'I'll tear down this temple made by humans, and in three days I'll build another temple, one not made by human hands.' But their testimony did not agree even on this point. So the chief priest stood up in the center and asked Jesus, 'Don't you have any answer to what these men testify against you?' But he was silent" Mark 14:57-61 (God's Word). I can't imagine the pain of being scourged or nailed to a cross, but I do know what it is like to have people say things about you that hurt.
